Well today is the day! After months of endless planning and counting down to June 21st (and the last week of reckless/frantic packing!) the day has finally arrived to start this 6 month abroad adventure! Lauren should be arriving any minute and we will then literally be inseparable for the next 4 weeks...I couldn't be more excited! We have a direct flight to London/Heathrow, followed by a 9 hour layover where we are planning on taking the London Express to Paddington Station. And to start this amazing trip off in an even better fashion we will be meeting up with Lindsay who is in London as well!! I haven't seen her for over 3 months and an international rendez-vous is just mind blowing! We literally couldn't be starting this trip in a better way. After that we will fly another 12 hours overnight to Johannesburg, followed by a short layover, then a "quick" flight up to Windhoek! There has been so much planning behind this trip and I know I have said this to everyone 1000 times but it is still so surreal to me that I will be out of the country for the next 8 weeks and be in Africa in 48 hours times!!
I thought the Chinese philosopher's, Lao Tzu, quote would be an appropriate way to start this blog seeing as the next 6 months will be taking me several 1000s of miles and is starting today with this single step out my front door. I am so excited to see what these upcoming months have to offer and I cannot wait to share my experiences and recount the inevitable adventures that the future holds :) I am walking out the door with open eyes, an open heart, and a spark in my step that is excited to start this memorable experience hand in hand with my best friend.
